SVNH CLOSED – Monday, September 19th 2022

ANHBC neighbourhood houses, camp and office will be closed on Monday, September 19th, in recognition of the day of mourning.

At ANHBC we have been quiet on the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, but have been internally reflecting since last week. As an organization that is prioritizing decolonizing work, and holds our friendships and relations with Indigenous neighbours and organizations so dear, while also knowing that many of our community members and team are mourning this loss, we recognize that our collective identity and history are complicated and challenging.

With the recent announcement of the BC government and school closures on Monday, September 19, as an organization the choice to stay open or close was not an easy one. We know there will be differing opinions about this day, but in consultation with others and given the time constraints, ANHBC has made the decision to close its operations for the day.

Please feel free to reach out to your program supervisor if you have any questions or concerns.

Warmly,

Mimi Rennie, Executive Director of South Vancouver Neighbourhood House
