Workshop - presented by Dr. Walter Kohan
June 12, 2018 - 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Frog Hollow Neighbourhood house

Educators and Philosophers have studied the concepts of Teaching and Learning for a long time. For years, our educational system has been based on the definition of teaching in which an "expert" transferred information to "pupils". Inspired by educators around the world, including Reggio Emilia, teachers today are seeking more effective and meaningful ways to "teach" and to "learn".

At this interactive workshop, explore the nuggets of wisdom in two philosophical statements, "nature loves to hide" & "an unexamined life is not worth living” and how to make them accessible to children & incorporate them into your encounters with children.

As we think about engaging children in playful and meaningful thinking, we will consider these following questions: How do we define teaching? How do we inspire our children through playful processes? How do playful inquiries engage us as a group?
